Take Action Now and Every Day
The Asian American Foundation wants a future where all Asian American and Pacific Islanders are accepted, protected, and celebrated. TAAF invests in anti-hate, education, and data. We incubate an anti-AAPI hate data group, and convene communities to build the infrastructure for influence and prosperity of AAPI communities in America.

See Us Unite for Change
Through music and comedy performances, short film packages and speakers, “See Us Unite for Change” aims to inspire and educate viewers about the AAPI community’s impact on the United States and how to support on-the-ground efforts building solidarity against hate.

“This event comes at an important time for our AAPI community, as we unite with our allies to celebrate the breadth and diversity of the Asian American experience. There is more work to be done in raising awareness of the contributions of our AAPI community and we’re honored to have the support of our partners as we work to build solidarity in service of a more equal and just society in America.”

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC
Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC works to advance the civil and human rights of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans, and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.

"Having tracked anti-Asian hate incidents for the past few years, StandAgainstHatred.org has been an important resource for our communities to work with the Department of Justice on hate crime prevention and policy advocacy. The demand for bystander trainings is growing and we are appreciative of the partnerships with Hollaback! and TAAF for supporting us to bring this to thousands more."

Stop AAPI Hate
Stop AAPI Hate, a joint project of Chinese for Affirmative Action, Asian Pacific Policy & Planning Council, and San Francisco State University, collects and analyzes anti-Asian hate, proposes policy changes and advocates for communities.

"Over the last year, anti-Asian hate incidents have skyrocketed, and so has the demand for analysis, education, and community solutions. TAAF's support will help Stop AAPI Hate continue to grow and develop, allow us to release even more-detailed analysis, work with local groups on community safety solutions, and to continue to advocate for the systems and policies which meet the needs of discriminatory actions."

National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum
NAPAWF ensures that AAPI women’s issues are in the media, particularly with regard to the intersectionality of race and gender related to the hate and discrimination experienced by AAPI women.

"The disproportionate impact of anti-Asian hate and violence on Asian American women, including the tragic murders in Atlanta, points to the importance of addressing the needs and vulnerabilities, as well as the strengths and opportunities for AAPI women. NAPAWF is proud to be a partner with TAAF in amplifying AAPI women’s voices in research and analysis, advocacy, and media to ensure that women and families are centered in changes to benefit our AAPI communities."

Decoding Hate
Decoding Hate is an interactive data visualization on the lived experience of anti-Asian hate, based on a dataset of hate incidents found on tweets and news reports from January 2020 to April 2021.

“You can’t fight what you can’t measure, which is why efforts to track hate are so critical. We hope Decoding Hate makes the anti-AAPI hate incidents reported in the news and on Twitter more real and gives us greater insight into the landscape of hate targeting AAPIs. Going forward, we’re excited to work together with other leading partners as part of TAAF's Anti-Hate Data Working Group, to strengthen our collective efforts and ensure the fight against hate is informed by sound data and research.”

Anti-Hate Data Group
The Anti-Hate Data Group develops open source documentation and tools to promote the adoption of a unified standard for reporting hate crimes.

"I believe a much needed change at this moment requires a national awakening and dialogue that involves leaders from every community. I fully support the creation of data collection standards and robust analyses of anti-AAPI hate incidents. The Anti-Hate Working Group will go a long way to providing a clearer picture of how these incidents are targeting and affecting our AAPI communities."

The Asian American Education Project
Partnering with UCLA's Department of Asian American Studies and Stanford University’s Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE), the Asian American Education Project provides deep and broad K-12 curricular lessons based upon the book Untold Civil Rights Stories and the stories from PBS’s successful “Asian Americans” TV series - for teachers and school districts to teach Asian American and Pacific Islander history as an important part of American history.

"Learning about Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) history, struggle and contribution is critical to understanding who we are today and where we're going as a nation. TAAF's support allows the The Asian American Education Project to bring AAPI history up to the current wave of violence to more students and to advocate for including ethnic studies of all types, including Asian American Studies, in every student's required curriculum."

Give in May Pledge
Created in 2020 as a joint initiative of the Asian Pacific Fund and AAPI Data, the Give In May campaign raises awareness and funds underresourced AAPI organizations during the national celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

“The purpose of the Give In May campaign—held during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month—is to raise awareness and funds for organizations serving AAPI communities, many of whom are often unseen. Co-hosted by AAPI Data and Asian Pacific Fund, Give In May shattered expectations in its first year (2020) and can become a powerful annual movement in AAPI philanthropy, strengthening the capacity for fundraising among nonprofits and individuals alike. TAAF’s presenting sponsorship provides important early support for this effort to increase funding to critical AAPI organizations.”

AAPI Landscape Analysis
The Urban Institute's landscape analysis identifies areas where TAAF's investment and influence will provide the greatest impact and guide other funders and policymakers on the needs of the community.

"I stand with the AAPI community during this painful time, in an already difficult year. We at the Urban Institute remain committed to doing work that spotlights the contributions of AAPI people to our society, illuminates persistent systemic and structural barriers to opportunity, and offers fact-based solutions to build a more inclusive America."
